Momentary Alienation -02


Exploring the same themes of alienation and the momentary isolation from the environment around us. Here is a two photo series.
1. Reflection of the TV screen and my Mom’s head on the door of my room. My Mom couldn’t bear the overtly fear-mongering Headlines on one of the Kannada news channels and she switched off just the Dish set and not the whole TV, she continued her embroidery completely forgetting about the blue screen that lit the entire living room.
2. To get some fresh air I went to the terrace and I could see this Daily wage worker in the backdrop of a huge apartment complex, I had forgotten to set the right white balance and the image came out very colder.
After getting the images on the computer I wondered the coherence between the two images. And all that could be derived was: Two people completely unaware of the world around involving in their little hobbies and duties.

Some photographers have the special skill of approaching people which I completely lack. But on the brighter side, I can concentrate on things like dead rats , roads, a chocolate wrapper discarded by some arrogant person, a hanging toilet cleaner, and of course self portraits. I can go full detailed and take my own time with each of my inanimate subjects without worrying about what it will think of me. We humans have the tendency to associate Human forms to things that are non living. Anthromorphism yeah that’s the word. But why do we do it ? Home is where you reach it even in a blindfold You still feel the warmth when it is cold, No matter what, home is where we are all Bold. Home is where you have enough spare changes, parched clothes, damped eyes, and clamped memories Home is you, Home is a clean toilet, Home is web cobbed corners And moss covered parapets Allergic carpets And lost pets

Indoors when it Rains

Indoors become the play area for kids - the younger generation run to the balcony to click some photos - the older generation run to the terrace to get the drying clothes- chairs and sofa will become the makeshift drying lines - BESCOM cuts the power supply - the umbrellas are opened to bring milk to make tea- piping hot tea is prepared to be drank on the balcony. Lots of commotions yet everyone seems teeming with life when it rains.  For me the slow drizzle outside, makes the indoor spaces more intimate, the smell of the rain sets a mood that can't be achieved through anything else. On the warm summer afternoons, I sit on my bed and day dream about the rainy evenings. The thought itself brings unexplainable joy. Please View the photos in full screen mode.
